"EMPOWERING STUDENTS TOWARDS SUCCESS"
DISTRESS TO DE-STRESS: HANDLING EXAMINATION STRESS
As we approach exam season, it is essential to prioritize our students' well-being and help them maintain a calm and focused state of mind. To support students in managing their emotions and addressing their concerns, Adept – A Program for Enhancing Life Skills, powered by wellnesswise.in, has been conducting Exam Stress Modules annually for Senior Wing students from Grades IX to XII. This module has been specifically designed and developed under the guidance of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness), BBGS.
The main objective of the session was to help students identify the causes of stress and learn effective ways to cope with it. Students were guided on how to recognize and address automatic negative thoughts, enabling them to manage these effectively and avoid feelings of discomfort or pressure during exam time.
The importance of an effective time management plan, including prioritization and crafting a SMART timetable, was also discussed. Strategies to boost productivity and incorporate diverse learning styles and approaches were shared.
To improve concentration, a few practical exercises were conducted, which were well-received by the students. These activities were followed by a short session on progressive muscular relaxation and guided imagery. The significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle was also emphasized, focusing on a balanced diet, regular exercise, and good sleep habits.
Throughout the session, students felt engaged, expressed their concerns openly, and received practical solutions to help them prepare positively for the upcoming exams.
